Novartis Consumer Health, Inc. and their Norvartis Animal Health North America division has just announced that it will be temporarily suspending production and medication shipments that will be affecting the availability of some of their most popular pet medications. This will cause these medication to be unavailable and on indefinite backorder until such time as Novartis Consumer Health, Inc. resumes making these medication. Some suppliers may have medications on hand to provide, but we do not know how long these supplies will last, and shortages of Interceptor Flavor Tabs heartworm preventative medication are already being reported to us.
The medications that will be affected by the lack of availablity are the following:
Sentinel Flavor Tabs, heartworm and flea preventative medication
Clomicalm, anti-anxiety medication
Program Tablets and Suspensions, flea preventative medication
Milbemite, ear mite treatment medication
Deramaxx, anti-inflammatory pain medication
If your pets take any of the medications above and you need prescription refills, Suffolk Veterinary Group Animal Wellness and Laser Surgery Center would like to help you with prescribing for your pet an alternative form of medication. Some alternatives may not be appropriate for all pets, so it will be important that you please contact our office Monday through Thursday 12:00pm noon to 7:00pm or Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm at 631-696-2400 so that we may review your pet’s medical history and schedule a follow-up examination if necessary in order to consult with you as to which alternative would be best for your special companion.
