When we go to our human medical doctors, sometimes the first thing that happens before we even get to see our practicioner is that a nurse will come in and draw blood.  This blood is sent to a laboratory to evaluate all sorts of indicators of our health.  Based on these results, our doctors make their treatment recomendations.

Many animal health indicators are also located in their blood.  At Suffolk Veterinary Group Animal Wellness and Laser Surgery Center we have the availablity to evaluate those indicators right in our clinic during your pet's examination.  Licensed Veterinary Technicians draw blood samples from the patient, and run those samples through a series of machines and computers that measure the levels of various chemicals in the blood.  The results are then given to the Veterinarian, who will discuss with you the findings, and consult with you various treatment recommendations based upon those results.

Evaluations of a pet's urine, stool, and culture samples are also available.

We are also able to provide Heartworm disease, Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrilchiosis screening for dogs.  Cats can recieve feline leukemia, feline heartworm, and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV or feline AIDS) screening.  Fecal evaluations for intestinal parasites is also part of a pet's Annual Wellness Program to make sure they have not contracted any intestinal worms.
