This page includes contact information for animal emergency and critical care facilities should your pet need medical attention after our clinic hours.  During our clinic hours, please don't hesitate to call us at 631-696-2400 for immediate care.

Approximately 2.5 miles east of Suffolk Veterinary Group, located across North Ocean Avenue from the Suffolk County 6th Police Precinct, on the southeast corner of North Ocean Avenue (Rt 83) and Middle Country Road (Rt 25).  They are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your emergency needs, and remain open on holidays as well.

If you are in a town that is not near Selden, please see the bottom of this page for a list of animal emergency and critical care facilities on Long Island so that you can go to the closest available emergency hospital.  Time is important during an emergency, and while Animal Emergency Services of Selden is the closest critical care facility to our hospital, there are many other emergency and critical care facilities that will be happy to see you and your pet that may be closer to your home.

If your pet has ingested, or even if you suspect an ingestion of, any foreign substance, such as fuel products or antifreeze, prescription or over-the-counter medications (human or animal), plants, chocolate, or sugarless chewing gum, please contact one of the following Poison Control Centers immediately.  The Poison Control Center will help you identify the toxin, how serious the poisoning is, and inform you of what to do, up to and including contacting Suffolk Veterinary Group or an animal emergency facility.  Remember to write down the case number given to you by the agency so that the veterinarians can consult with them about your pet's treatment needs.

Because these pet poison control centers do not recieve funds from the government and operate as non-profits, they do require fees for services to help keep them running.

Please request a sedative before your pet will need it.  Suffolk Veterinary Group cannot provide prescriptions for sedatives unless your pet has had a Comprehensive Physical Exam in the same year of your request, so schedule your pet’s examination as soon as possible so that your pet can be comfortable and less stressed when faced with their loud noise phobia.

Click Here for some tips in coping with your pet's loud noise phobia.

An animal emergency facility will require your pet to have a physical exam with them before they write any prescriptions, so you will be required to transport your pet to them, which, if your pet is fearful, may not benefit you or your pet.

This list is in order from east to west, and as complete as we can make it.  Individual Veterinarians may have on-call hours as pertaining to their particular practice schedule
